When we come in faith to God through Jesus Christ, He begins a work in our lives to make us more and more like His Son in character, deeds and love. This process inside is called sanctification, and from the outside is called discipleship.
Discipleship, or spiritual formation, relies on two complimentary pillars: the internal work of the Spirit, and the external means. External means includes Bible study, prayer, active presence at worship, the hearing of the word of God as taught and preached, involvement in service and especially getting involved in a small group.
